Elise LaJeunesse (1955 - present) is an award winning photographer and bromoilist who currently resides in Taylorsville, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City.
History
After many years of photographing landscapes, historical sites and items well past their prime, she became interested in finding a new method of expression for her photographs. Attending at exhibition at the Church History Museum, she found a small, intimate exhibit in the lower level of the museum of bromoils by J. George Midgley.http://lds.org/churchhistory/museum/exhibits/previous/0,16086,4088-1,00.html She immediately fell in love with the style and painterly quality of the images and was determined to learn more of the process.
Ms. LaJeunesse attended a workshop on the art of bromoil in Oregon, hosted by Linda Lapp-Lapp Murray, where she was taught how to create bromoils by one of the great living legends of the art, David W. Lewiswww.bromoil.com. She has continued to perfect the art of bromoil, using Mr. Lewis's exacting standards to create these one of a kind objects of art.
In addition to creating bromoil images, Ms. LaJeunesse is also accomplished at matting and framing the images. She takes the time to choose each frame and hand cutting each matt for the images, as well as assembling each finished product. Each bromoil image comes with a Certificate of Authenticity that includes the artist's handwritten notes and signature. Each item is a one of a kind collectible piece of artwork.
Ms. LaJeunesse has exhibited her bromoils in Salt Lake City, New York City and Chicago. You can visit her website at www.bromoilsbyelise.com for further information
