Bnnnperdue (talk · contribs) has created a series of hoaxes about populated places, creating imaginary histories and fake locator maps about various places, including existing neighborhoods and non-notable small populated place names. The hoaxes often claim that places were, or have recently become, incorporated or census-designated places, to trick people into thinking that the article will meet WP:GNG imminently despite a lack of sources, and to give the impression that the USGS GNIS entry for the place is more significant than just WP:ITEXISTS.

The same user also inserted claimed connections to (possibly random) places into other articles. This page attempts to gather up all the garbage so it can be removed.

Most of these are up for deletion to determine whether they meet WP:GNG/WP:GEOLAND somehow, rather than just WP:ITEXISTS.

  • Conlen, Texas — might be partially correct; but it needs every fact, incuding GNIS ID, coordinates, and population verified: How can it have a known population count unless it's not a CDP? Also needs to be checked for notability.

These need to be checked over to make sure they don't have hoax/unverified material in them.

  • Lake Nacimiento, California — added nickname "Hot Lake"
  • Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, California — Amorphous claim that "Toluca Lake functions as a separate entity, with it's own post office, ZIP code, and downtown area."
  • Mims, Florida — possibly fake ZIP Code claims
  • Clearing, Chicago, Illinois — Claimed to have, by its own "community board", voted itself out of Chicago, then granted village status by county. Both of those aren't how Illinois law does them. Reverted to pre-Bnnnperdue version. Still needs a source or removal of a claim that Clearing was an incorporated town between 1912 and 1915.
  • Naperville, Illinois — File:LocationOfNaperville.png inserted and other map method removed. Needs to determine whether it strictly matches Naperville's border, and remove otherwise; or just remove based on WP:PROVEIT.
  • Rosslyn, Virginia — Moved from Rosslyn, Arlington, Virginia "Because Rosslyn is an unincorporated community, separate from Arlington." Need to determine whether that's accurate and what the consensus is for Virginia.
