I am a psychology professor at Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska. I have been an active member of the American Name Society for years and was President of that organization in 2005 & 2006. I am the author of The Great Big Book of Baby Names and have presented many scholarly articles on names and naming at meetings of the American Name Society. My two most recent presentations were on the effects of popular culture on the use of names in the United States, one dealing with the general culture and one specifically with Hispanic-American culture. I am presently preparing those talks for publication as articles.
