About Me

[edit]

Clayton White is a student at Berklee College of Music who studies Music Therapy. He is an aspiring musician, guitarist, and performer from Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Clayton is currently a senior at Berklee College of Music and plans on graduating in the spring of 2017. After graduating, Clayton wants to work in Special Education for children using music therapy and also to perform live as a lead guitarist for solo and collaborative music projects.

Musical Background

[edit]

Clayton has been playing the guitar since the age of fourteen—having been inspired by Led Zeppelin, and in particular the song Stairway to Heaven. Ever since hearing the song, Clayton has been motivated to learn the acoustic and electric guitar. Having had difficulties finding a local private instructor while growing up in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, he taught himself how to play the guitar instead. Through the process, he learned chords, scales, arpeggios, and songs by ear and memory. Eventually, he would begin performing live with his father at music venues at the age of 16, playing lead guitar. In 2014, after spending two years studying at Atlantic Cape Community College and Quinsigamond Community College, Clayton applied and got accepted to Berklee College of Music to pursue a career in music. While attending, he would eventually discover the profession of music therapy and become passionate about what the field offers for people of all ages and backgrounds. After attending his first practicum in Special Education pertained to the major, Clayton discovered his passion for using music therapy with children. As his time at Berklee comes to an end, Clayton has been appreciative of all the opportunities Berklee has offered along with all the inspirational people and teachers he has had the pleasure of knowing.
