Next Generation is a nonprofit think tank and communications organization founded by brothers Tom Steyer and Jim Steyer along with former Kaiser executive Matt James. Next Generation researches and develops policies related to climate change and children’s issues such as early childhood education [Competition that Really Matters?] and child poverty [Prosperity Threatened], with a primary focus on California.

In 2013, Secretary Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation partnered with Next Generation to launch the Too Small to Fail initiative [toosmall.org][1], which aims to improve the well-being of American children aged zero to five [toosmall.org].

Next Generation has been a leading voice in the investigation of “acidizing,” an unregulated oil drilling technique, related to fracking, employed in California’s Monterey Shale. [2]
