Suzy Kassem
Suzy Kassem, born in Toledo, Ohio (December 1, 1975), is an American author, filmmaker, philosopher, cultural critic, essayist, and poet of Egyptian descent.[1]
In addition to her writing, Kassem has worked as a music video Suzyand commercial director in Hollywood for over nine years.[1]
The earliest years of her childhood were spent attending international boarding schools in Switzerland, living across Europe and the Middle East, and traveling the world with her father, who designed MBA and PhD programs for many prominent universities.[1]
In 2009, Kassem was set to direct a $12 million project in Cairo entitled Dimou Il Bahr (Sea of Tears), but the film came to a halt after she "tangled unsuccessfully with Egyptian authorities over her script about disenchanted youth fleeing 'suffocation' in their homeland."[citation needed]
