From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Criticism of 2012 Benghazi attack media coverage has stemmed from perceptions of political bias in favor of United States President Barack Obama among media outlets. The attack on U.S. assets in Benghazi precipitated controversy during the 2012 United States presidential election. During the town hall debate, CNN anchor and moderator Candy Crowley intervened in a dispute between the president and candidate Mitt Romney about statements concerning the attack, saying, "He did call it an act of terror." Several journalists and pundits criticized the lack of coverage among other media outlets during October. Then on November 2, 2012, the Huffington Post reported that the Associated Press, the New York Times and The Washington Post held back the knowledge that two former SEALs killed in the attack were working with the Central Intelligence Agency because the Obama Administration and the CIA had requested that they suppress the information.
