Taxaholic states is a pejorative term used by politicians who promote low-tax policies.
This table shows the per capita taxes for the 50 states. Because taxes can be labeled user fees, because states use a different mix of sales, income, liquor, etc., taxes, because taxes on businesses are indirect taxes on consumers, this table looks at total state revenue and population, and ranks states according to per-capita spending.
