Night Slugs is an English electronic music record label run by Alex Sushon (Bok Bok) and James Connolly (L-VIS 1990). It was founded in 2009. The label is home to electronic acts Jam City, Girl Unit, Kingdom, Velour, Lil Silva, Jacques Greene, Mosca, Egyptrixx, and Bok Bok and L-VIS 1990 themselves, under the aliases Bok Bok and L-VIS 1990. All of the Night Slugs video and album art is coordinated by Bok Bok.[1]
Alex Sushon is a multi-platform designer based in South London who graduated from Camberwell College Of Art in June 2007 with a BA in Graphic Design. Since then he has worked the fields of type design, illustration, sound and video design, information design and art direction, both digitally and in print, in both freelance and agency environments. Sushon also DJs and produces clubmusic and runs the NIGHT SLUGS record label. He present a fortnightly radio show alongside L-Vis 1990 on London's RINSE FM. (from http://www.sushon.org)
Bok Bok is a DJ and producer from South London and one half of NIGHT SLUGS He started off playing Grime music back in 2003-4. In 2006 he starteda long-standanding DJ collaboration with Manara. In 2008 Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 founded the Night Slugs club night in London. Now based at East Village club in East London, Night Slugs is a platform to showcase the new rowdy, bottom-heavy flavas emerging both in the UK and oversees.
L-Vis 1990 (real name James Connolly) is a London-based DJ and producer and, along with Bok Bok, is a co-founder and head of the Night Slugs imprint, which arose from their monthly club night at London’s East Village club. He has had original material released on the Dress 2 Sweat, Mad Decent, Sound Pellegrino, and Tres Cool Records labels, along with his 2010 “Forever You” EP, released by his home camp, Night Slugs. He has done remix work for Crystal Fighters, La Roux, Tony Senghore, Gucci Vump, Sissy Nobby, Supra 1, Kingdom, Mosca, and others, and continues to tour in the UK. The label enjoyed a dramatic rise in fame in early 2010 when a number of the artists signed to its roster found mainstream success, most notably . The track was a success in clubs worldwide.[2] The music video for the single won the award for best video at the MTV Europe Music Awards. gained international radio play.
