Jay Bell (Writer)

Jay Bell (born February 19th, 1977) is a young-adult fiction writer. Bell's most notable works are his self published novels Something Like Summer and Kamikaze Boys.[1] He won the 25th annual Lambda Literary award for his novel Kamizake Boys in 2013.[2] Something Like Summer has obtained its own accolades as well.It was selected as one of Amazon's Best Gay Books of 2011. It was also a finalist in the Lambda Literary Awards in 2012. Jay Bell lives in Germany with his husband Andreas Bell, who has designed the covers of Jay's novels.[3]

The Something Like Series

After the success of his novel Something Like Summer Jay decided to create the Something Like series. Each book in the collection is written from the perspective of a different character.The character will sometimes be a character readers are introduced to in a previous book in the series. The first four books are all seasons. The series starts with Something Like Summer and ends with Something Like Spring. Something Like Spring gives a glimpse of the characters from the previous three books from the perspective of a new character Jason Grant.

The books in the Something Like series has received many awards.Jay Bell obtained awards in multiple categories from the Goodreads M/M Romance Members Choice Awards for the first three books of the series. [4]

Jay Bell's most recent novel is Something Like Thunder. The novel was published on May 20, 2015. Something Like Thunder is the second of the Jay Bell's Something Like storms set. The first was Something Like lightning, which was released in October.Something Like Thunder is centered around a character named Nathaniel Courtney.Nathan is introduced in Something Like Lightning.

Loka Legends

The Loka Legends series is a Fantasy that features gay romance. The two full length novels are illustrated by Jay Bell's husband Andreas Bell. There are also collections of the concept art and sketches for the series. The recommended reading order is as follows.

Something Like Summer Movie

Something Like Summer will be the first of Jay Bell's books to be adapted into a movie.The film is to be directed and produced by J.T. Tepnapa. He had his first successful kickstarter funding Judas Kiss in 2010.[5] The Kickstarter for Something Like Summer launched on February 8th, 2013. The film reached it's Kickstarter goal on March 11th,2013. [6]

The film is set to be start filming in June 2015. The main cast was released during the kickstarter. It consist of Austen Mckenzie as Benjamin Bentley, Davi Santos as Tim Wyman, Ajiona Alexus as Allison Cross, and Ben Baur as Jace Holden. The remainder of the cast was released on May,22 2015.[7]
