Creation and renovation
[edit]In the beginning of the 20th century there where several libraries in Ljungby. One of the first opened 1920, on Storgatan in the middle of Ljungby. With a grant from the government, of 218 kronor and 94 öre, the library bought 36 new books the year after. The total collection consisted then of 78 books.[2]
The current library finished 1982 and was designed by architect Jan Wallinder.[3] Librarian Ingemar Ehlin at Uppsala library considered it as one of the most interesting contemporary libraries due to its innovative architecture and functionality.[4]
The library was temporarily closed in September 2009 for renovation. It was closed for three months before it opened again January 11, 2010. [5]
