Happy 2008!

Happy New Years!

Happy New Years!!!!!

I wish you and your friends and family a very happy new year. As we enter 2008, I also hand you anything you would like. Even if it's alcohol, which I'm not allowed to handle.

I've completed my first full year of holding this account (not editing, mind you; that's due to my three months of inactivity).

I've made many friends here in my first year, and you, since I am giving you this message, are one of them. I've gotten a much better view on Wikipedia, about everyone being able to edit, vandalism, etc.

Once again, I truly pray that you, your friends, and your family have an excellentè New Year! (Yes, my bad Español is starting to leak through my Englsh.)

Thanks for helping me around Wikipedia as a new editor, and have a great 2008!

Your friend, Jonathan talk \ contribs 00:29, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

It's great to see you back, Chris!! Jonathan talk \ contribs 00:32, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Cool to see you back! I like your picture! Happy new year! miranda 10:29, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Requested Deletion Review

[edit]

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Foodnet. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Egebers (talk) 22:37, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm new to this so hopefully you give me the benefit of the doubt :-). I had an imaged deleted for lack of source http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:Ole_Hallesby.JPG&action=edit . I had completed the usage agreement and it is my personal image - taken with my camera standing in Ole Hallesby's living room so I'm not sure what I need to do to have it restored and how I need to indicate me as the source. Lodge officers article

[edit]

Several reasons for removal... one is that I don't think the picture really adds anything to the article. Yes, adding a caption would help a bit... but not enough. The fact that the people in the picture are wearing jewels is what ties the picture to the article, but in your picture you can not make out any detail about the jewel. The average non-Mason (who form the bulk of our audience) will end up seeing a picture of "some guys with ribbons around their necks"... which will not really mean anything to them.

This is essentially similar to a debate I had with another editor who wanted to use his pictures of the various chairs. He was trying to show that the chairs had the various emblems engraved on them... which might have worked, except that the pictures were so small you could not make this detail out in the pictures the editor wanted to use... so they ended up just being meaningless pictures of fancy wooden chairs. He knew the emblems were there, (and once he told me this, I was able to sort of make make them out)... but the average person would not have made the connection.

I do agree with you that pictures would help the article... we just have to find the right pictures. Perhaps a series of nice close up shot of the various jewels themselves would work (I would place them against a dark background so they stand out.)... don't include people (the eye gets drawn to the person and not the jewel). If you want to attempt such shots, give it a try. Alternatively, I have been trying to find a good Masonic clip art type site with free licence examples (either drawn or photographed) of the jewels ... the Masters square, the SW's level, the JW's plumb, the Steward's cornocopia etc. I know such sites exist, because I used one to download some images of other masonic emblems for a lodge lecture I gave. Thanks for sorting that stuff for me. All I do is delete the messages from that bot. Anyways, how are you? A belated seasons greetings to you and yours. :) – B.hotep u/t• 08:49, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Freemasonry discussion topic started on Systematic Bias

[edit]

Hi Chris. You'll probably want to comment on this topic [[1]]. Please note that although it may seem a bit strong I really do mean what I say about having no doubt about anyone's good faith.

JASpencer (talk) 14:26, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate, that landed on WP:100! I paid close attention to everything that was said, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because of the holidays and all the off-wiki distractions. :) I'm also working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thanks again, and have a great new year, --Elonka 04:50, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Possible edit warring on project article

[edit]

There seems to be some issues going on over on the article : Military history of African Americans, in particularly in the section Military history of African Americans#Confederate States Army. Could you take a look at the article's edit history as well as the discussion, Talk:Military history of African Americans, and possibly give some input? Thanks. Sf46 (talk) 00:37, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hey, it's me Sesshomaru. We haven't talked for a while, huh? Thought you should be aware of Wrestlinglover (talk · contribs · logs). I have requested comment on the username here and it seems the name is acceptable at this point. I will refrain from commenting further, as I'm sure you know why. A tag has been placed on Template:User:Chrislk02/Tnavbar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

I deleted it. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 22:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Friendly suggestion

[edit]

I noticed you closed this AfD as no consensus. Since there was strong opinions on both sides, it may be helpful to add a little more information on why you closed it, besides divided opinion. That way it helps clarify things and prevent repeat nominations over perceived "unfairness". Cheers, David Fuchs (talk) 22:46, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

My apologies for not being clearer with the decision. In my opinion, it was very clear that no consensus had been reached to delete or keep the article. Both sides had decent arguments and was split right down the middle as to who agreed with each side. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 15:49, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

I need some help undeleting Firebrands

[edit]

Hi Chris,

I noticed the deletion of the article on the Singaporean Rock Band, "Firebrands" on 18 Dec 2007, for the reason that it is an un-notable band. I'd like to put the article up again, as I think the reason for deletion may have been a mistake. I wrote it alongside several other articles profiling Singaporean Rock Bands, which are just as notable, or un-notable... if you may.

I realize one mistake I may have made was to highlight or bold several links leading to the article, on several pages on related topics, seemingly making this article or this band more notable than it is. Correcting this is no issue to me.

I'd like to put the article back up. Could you undelete it for me, and tell me what needs to be improved? Thanks for all your ongoing work on this amazing resource. Hope to hear from you soon.
