Addygan
[edit]A golfing term similar to Gillygan. Whilst a Gillygan allows a better result to be attributed to a previous shot, the Addygan allows a better result to occur on the next shot.
Technically the Addygan is defined as obtaining excessively advantageous relief from, generally imaginary, abnormal ground conditions.
Tree Addygan
[edit]When a players swing is obstructed by a tree the player must hunt for mole hills, rabbit scrapes or small areas of uneven ground. Once located the player takes full relief from the ground condition, but combines it with also taking full relief from the tree.
Bush Addygan
[edit]When a ball is located within the bounds of a bush (or hedge) such that it would be impossible to strike the ball, the Addygan can be invoked to enable a full swing to be made.
