The surname of Jahvel will show the talent of three generation in one family.
Born Javan Burrell July 27th 1995, music was a talent running through Jahvel’s blood. Jahvel’s father and grandfather are well known for doing reggae music; Culture Dollar is his father and his grandfather-in the legend icon of Roland Burrell – Also known as Mr Johnny Dollar. Jahvel has now come to bring a new lane of reggae music for the current generation to enjoy.
In the early stages of his career, he was known as J. Blacks, but later decided to add part of his given middle name to derive with his current stage name as Jahvel-which means ‘gift of god’, later adding ‘Di Bless One’ after realizing that he is the first born and only son for both parents.
At the age of 12, Jahvel wrote his first official song called “baby I love you”, while he was still attending school (Newell High School), he was deemed the most talented student on the school compound.
At the age of 18, he built his own recording studio, called "Talent Squad Records" and started voicing and mixing his own songs.
At age 20, Jahvel started to receive recognition in the music industry when he released his first single, "Nah Dead Poor” on iTunes, Amazon and 32 other websites. The single received worldwide exposure with a lot of airplays on Hot 102 FM, Irie FM, Zip FM, Internet radio stations, and overseas. His second official single "Keep Me Calm" was released a year later.
Jahvel has had a number of media appearances in his career thus far. Jahvel has performed on the show Smile Jamaica aired on TVJ, he also done an interview on Intense, another show aired on TVJ. He has appeared on a stage show in Trinidad which received postitive feedback.
Jahvel has had a wide range of successful singles in the recent years, including his single “My God”. He has collaborated with other critically acclaimed reggae/dancehall artists such as his grandfather Roland Burrell, Likkle Dainjah, JayBadz, and many more.
Jahvel achieved another musical milestone when he signed his first international record deal with Hamage Records; A Dancehall/Reggae/Urban record label located in Canada.
He has also released a number of singles with this label, such as his first critically acclaimed single “Brace it” which has achieved huge success on digital media platforms and streaming websites worldwide. Jahvel managed to achieve this numbers again with his second single released with the label, “ADENI”. This single has received worldwide airplay, and traction on social media platforms.
Jahvel is currently working on material for his record label’s first album- “AXUM” due in stores and on all digital media platforms on August 31st.
The future is bright for Jahvel as he plans to do more collaboration with his family and fellow artists to show the vitality and versatility within the music industry.
