1) Glastonbury. By: Robert Hubbard and the Historical Society of Glastonbury This is a book about the history of the town of Glastonbury. I know this is a high quality source because it is a published non fiction book written by a historical society. This book gives a background of the owners of the Welles Shipman Ward House and some facts about the house itself. This source's point of view is rather objective because the authors simply want to give a straightforward history of the town and things within it.

2) The history of Ancient Wethersfield, Connecticut : comprising the present towns of Wethersfield, Rocky Hill, and Newington, and of Glastonbury prior to its incorporation in 1693, from date of earliest settlement until the present time. By: Sherman W. Adams and Henry Reed Styles. This is a book about the history of Glastonbury and the surrounding towns. This will be useful in finding information about the cultural climate of the town during the time in which the house was built. I know this is a high quality, objective source because it is a published book.

3) The Historical Society of Glastonbury Website This is the website of the organization that maintains and runs events having to do with the house. This is a good source of information about not only the history of the house but, the current state of it as well. This source is from the point of view of people who want others to visit the historical site, so it the information is mostly positive.

4) Newspaper article from the Hartford Courant titled Connecticut River Valley Mansion, Welles Shipman Ward House, Open Every Tuesday thru the End of August This source, while brief gives a good amount of information about the types of functions held at the house. I know this is a good reliable source because it is in a reputable newspaper.

5) Article in Glastonbury Life magazine titled History comes alive at the Welles-Shipman-Ward House This news article is quite a good source. Not only does it give historical facts, but also information on the condition of the house today. This is a reliable source because it was published in a magazine to inform people so it must be pretty accurate.

6) Glastenbury for two hundred years: a centennial discourse, May 18th, A.D. 1853. By: A. B. Chapin This is a book written in 1853 about the history of Glastonbury (It's so old that the name Glastonbury is spelled differently!). This will provide a very accurate view into life around the time the house was being built.
