My name is Charmyonne Bailey and I am a senior Mass Communications major with and emphasis in Broadcasting. I attend Norfolk State University and want to become a famous talk show host within the next five to seven years. I hail for the beautiful nations capital, Washington, DC. I grew up in Southeast and am proud of it. Sitting at home watching television inspired me to want to become a talk show host. Another reason that I want to pursue this career is because I feel comfortable in front of the camera and can capture a room when I arrive. There are no obsticles in my way and I will become the next Oprah Winfrey, if not better.

Today my interest will be on African American Film

Watching African American films from as early as the 1920's has made me appreciate film today. It took so much for African Americans such as Oscar Micheaux, Carlton Moss and later inspired people such as Melvin Van Peebles. Now we have wonderful African American directors in Hollywood in the 21st Century such as Spike Lee. I now am a little more interested then I was before about film directing and writing. Now all I have to do is put my first foot forward in accomplishing my goal to write my first movie. On my discovery to find out more about this new found interest I think I am going to study this craft more before I choose it. It just amazes me how far African Americans have come, what we are doing and where we are headed. I wonder when Oscar Micheaux wrote and directed his first movie, if he ever would have thought African Americans would be where we are today.

My interest today will reflect on Oprah Winfrey. I admire her determination, dedication and drive. She is a woman that I look up to. Owning her many organizations and having her own sindicated talk show shows me that there is so much that I should want to accomplish if I want to be better than her. Her goals that she has reached makes me see that dreams can come true as long as you never stop believing in yourself. I feel that I have a lot of work to do to even reach a handfull of accomplishments that she has. When I graduate college I wont have anything or anyone holding me back. Hopefully my syndicated show will do as great and hopefully better than hers. Oprah Winfrey is the woman to beat and I have to try even if my goals are set higher than I can even imagine.

This is my last post for this month. My interest today is my future goals after graduation. My goals after graduation are to contact all the places that I have applied. This summer I want to work toward becoming a talk show host. This has always been a dream of mine. I want to end up having my own syndicated talk show on television. In order to become what I want to be I still have a long way to go. When I was younger I would watch shows such as Oprah, Ricky Lake and even watch the news to see how I should look in order to be one of them when I got older. It has been a hard journey to walk but as long as I keep up with everything and try my hardest I know I will get where I want and need to be. My mind has changed though. I want to become a talk show host on a show such as 106 & Park first. I want to get the experience needed to succeed with my own television show and I dont want to rush into it. My goals are far to reach but as long as it stays in my heart, it won't be too long before I grab it.
