I am presently a doctoral candidate in early modern material culture at Bard Graduate Center in New York. My dissertation, “From Garden to Toilette: Cultivating Perfume in Early Modern England” traces the physical and commercial life histories of raw materials from their initial cultivation or importation to their subsequent use in the production of perfume. My work takes an interdisciplinary approach, employing recent methodologies from art history, anthropology, and the histories of the book, science, and medicine.
