Outapi Baobab Tree

Also known as Omukwa Waambalantu, is one of the famous Baobab tree in Namibia. It is found in Outapi town in the Northern Namibia. It is located opposite the town council, behind the Open Market and adjacent to the former Soouth African Military Base. This tree is estimated to be 800 years old and it stands 28 metres.

The Baobab tree has a hollow inside it. This hollow played a very important role especially during the colonial times, it was used as a hideout and in addition to that, it was used as a Post Office and as a Chapel. The Ombalantu Baobab has been into a welcoming camping site owned by the Ombalantu Baobab Tree Heritage Centre and Camp Site Local Community. The site offers a variety of facilities such as:
