Development History
[edit]In the history of the development of British music, the two major periods became the iconic English music. These kinds of music mainly come from the Renaissance period, the Baroque period. John Dunstable is also a musical innovator in the new era of literary and artistic renewal. Meanwhile, a scripture song written by John Dunstable is musical enlightenment. When it turns to the Baroque period, Henry Purcell pushed the development of British music into its heyday. Henry Purcell mainly led the development of British musicals and cabaret in his years.
Renaissance
[edit]The main influence of British music in the new period of literary and artistic restoration is John Dunstable. The British music under his leadership has been innovated.
John Dunstable
[edit]The passion shown in John Dunstable's works are indelible. Today, John Dunstable retains about seventy works. According to this, there are many kinds of works could not be surpassed. In the British music industry, John Dunstable has British style Descant, such as Ballad-Mass, Gymel motet, isorhythmic motet, broken form in the treble voice, spoken Rhythm, motet with double structure. All of John Dunstable's music arts are preserved in the form of manuscripts. However, motets are his works' mainstream. During his time, his works spread out all parts of Europe. Meanwhile, in his melody, it can be recognized that some voices are used in fixed voices and some high-pitched harmony and sound effects are added to other voices to express feelings and appeal. During the Renaissance, John Dunstable innovated new ways of expressing motet songs for music theory and spread music achievements to all parts of the world.[1]
Baroque Period
[edit]In the Baroque period after the Renaissance, many famous musicians resembled the famous Bach. Henry Purcell, a British musician in the Baroque period, is comparable to Bach and Beethoven in Britain. Most British musicians live near London because it's the closest to the Palace. There were organs and choirs in the palace, which attracted Henry Purcell to develop in the palace.[2]
Henry Purcell
[edit]Henry Purcell mainly writes British operas in the development of British music. Depending on Henry Purcell had some opinions on music, when he was young and came into contact with music styles from France and Italy. [3] Therefore, Henry Purcell influences by his growing environment. Furthermore, Henry Purcell's most famous opera is Dido and Aeneas. According to Dido and Aeneas, this is his first involvement in editing musical plays. In 1680, Henry Purcell's music became a new style and participated in the most noticeable music aspect in Britain. According to book Henry Purcell: the origins and development of his musical style "From then on, although records are patchy, we know when the larger part of his music was written, give or take a year or two, and can link much of it to specific events." [4] According to this document, Henry Purcell was a day in Baroque, England. Just like the appearance. Because it took him only two years to master the way of musical creation and performance. His works Dido and Aeneas are still playing today. Although Dido and Aeneas' plays are not long, they have been rhyming techniques.[5] Henry Purcell has promoted the development of British music in the British music industry, diversified the British music style and expanded the influence of British music.
British Morden Music
[edit]In the field of modern British music, Britpop and British rock and roll have become the mainstream music development style in Britain. When it turns to Britpop, the book Britpop and the English Music Tradition describes "As an important aspect of their musical identity was another factor that facilitated opportunistic comparisons with the 1960s from the point of view of the music industry and the music press." [6] This shows that British bands have a British position for themselves. The success in raising their popularity is due to the fact that British bands fully understand what British characteristics are. On the other hand, English style marks the development of British music. Considering the UK's popular bands, The Beatles is a household name.
The Beatles
[edit]The Beatles are founded after the middle of the last century, and they become an innovative British rock band. Britain experienced post-war reconstruction in the 1950s because the establishment of the Beatles became peace in people's minds. Therefore, The Beatles have developed rapidly in British music and it is certain that people will store their hopes on The Beatles. [7] However, the Beatles' music changes with the needs of the market and self-improvement, just as "The Beatles' early image was promoted along a predictable path, one serving the requirements of the market." [8] This shows that the Beatles' music development path is objective and has great commercial development space. Moreover, their music style created the early British rock and roll art, however, this rock and roll style is not only limited to art, but also aesthetics. The Beatles also influenced many rock bands and the conflict between the Beatles' music and British traditional music and popular music runs smoothly. Therefore, the Beatles can be encouraged to get a broader music industry market overseas.
Economics
[edit]With the progress of the times, the music industry in Britain has a small reputation in the world. In the 1990s, the development of independent record companies and the export of records became the theme economic sector of the British music industry. With regard to independent record companies, the British music industry has to compete with overseas record companies, such as Sony and Universal Music. According to the date of the UK music industry: Some recent developments, it can be seen that British record companies sell copyrighted music overseas to gain economic benefits. However, supermarket retailers in the UK can also contribute to record sales. Because in the last century, British supermarket retailers put records in stores to buy, which can provide customers with a more convenient way to access records. To this end, British records also offer an award for albums that sell more than 100,000 copies. Why did record sales in Britain last century be so high? Because the music of the 1990s was mostly recorded music, not digital albums. Therefore, in the 1990s, the record industry developed rapidly in the world. [9] It can be seen that the music industry in Britain is closely linked to the economic system of record companies. The development of the economy stimulates the desire for achievement of the British music industry and as a link links the competition between the British music industry and the record industry.[10]
British Music and International Relations
[edit]In the 20th century, the main competitor of the British music industry is the North American music industry. Among them, they stimulate each other' s music industry through "promotional war game". According to the promotional competition, the heat of British records declined after a month or so, while that of North American record companies lasted for half a year. Moreover, British broadcasting positioning is a national single target of transmission, while North American music is not a clear positioning for all programs. In this business competition, both sides are equally competitive. Subsequently, music broadcasting in Britain provided new artists with more opportunities to present their works. Therefore, the competition between British and North American music shows that their relationship motivates both parties to create better music platforms and works. [11]
