Anoka Faruqee (born 1972) is an American painter who is currently teaching at Yale School of Art.
Early life and education
[edit]Born in Ann Arbor, MI, she received a BA from Yale in 1994 and an MFA from Tyler School of Art in 1997. She has held teaching positions at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and California Institute of the Arts, where she was co-director of the Art program, and is now an Associate Professor in the Painting/Drawing department at Yale.
Work
[edit]Anoka's earlier paintings, consisted of freely painted interlocking shapes[1], whose colors shift across the surface of the canvas. Her newer paintings explore moire patterning.
Awards
