I am a running start student working to get my Associates in Arts and Science (Direct Transfer Degree) at Everett Community College. I still attend my high school to run cross country and track (I'm an avid runner). I enjoy all outdoor and water activities, such as hiking, wake boarding, rock climbing and snowboarding to name a few. I am planning on going to university after graduating and pursuing a career in sports psychology.

While using Wikipedia, I am interested in most controversies happening in society today. This involves gender and racial issues, political disputes, abortion, the wage gap, and prostitution. I am a huge advocate for human rights and any topics along those lines interest me. I am also interested in physical activities and nutrition and would love to learn more about the effects of nutrition and exercise on a person beyond the physical aspect but also emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Article Critique

Growing up in a Christian household, I am always curious about the mindset and beliefs of other religions, and the history behind what Christianity is based on. After looking through Wikipedia's portal page, there was a section with numerous religions. I have a particular interest in Catholicism and their traditions, but after clicking around that page, I came across a broad range of traditions of traditions of many religions. Unsure of Christianity's history in entirety, I visited the Christian tradition page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the lack of sources and citations, the lack of modern content relative to the topic, and the lack of relevance of some of the article content to the subject.

Sources and Citations

Although this article is relatively short, it is lacking enough sources and citations to make the information credible. There are no citations in the introduction and branches section and about half the article is not supported with any citations, making the information not trustworthy to believe. Not only is there a lack of citations in the article but half of the references in the article are from the same source. Despite this source possibly being reliable, without more content the information is being derived from, it is doubtful to believe that there was no bias or that the article is wholistic in showing multiple points of view or practices in Christian tradition. Religion is a very personal and interpretive subject, and more than one point of view would be helpful in understanding the topic fully.

Lack of modern content

This article is written on Christian tradition, which has a rich history dating back thousands of years. Despite Christian tradition being very deeply rooted in a historical context, Christianity is still practiced today and traditions have evolved throughout the years. This article is not wholistic, noting changes throughout history. It needs to have more current information on Christian tradition and how traditions within Christianity have evolved over time. With expanding the article and not only supplying it with more information, but with more modern content around Christian tradition would give the article more relevance to how Christianity is viewed today. This would make the article more applicable to people today, and help readers understand Christian tradition on a deeper level.

Lack of relevance to the article topic

Most of this article on Christian tradition is about Christian tradition, as well as different religions and practices related to Christianity. There is one section regarding a book written by James F. Keenan, an author and professor of theology at Boston College. In this section of the article, the author is trying to explain how the Church has changed over time, but fails to do so effectively. This section briefly touches on homosexuality and whether or not co-operators were necessary in the development of moral tradition. This sections of the article deviates from the article topic does not contribute to the reader's understanding of the subject matter, and therefore should not be included in it.

Summary

The article I chose on Christian tradition is a decent, but definitely in need of work regarding the amount of information the article gives and having credible resources that the article is based on. The lack of citations throughout the article makes the information unreliable, and there is not enough current information to make it applicable to our daily lives or even throughout most of history. Also, some sections of this article should be taken out entirely, as there is information that is confusing to the reader and that doesn't contribute to the article at all. With changes and elaboration on the article topic and and more detailed research over a broader range of sources, this article would serve its purpose in informing readers on Christian traditions.
