Al Karimi is an accomplished entrepreneur who has founded multiple IT corporations since 1999. He has worked in the IT management and technology business for over 30 years now. Even though his focus is with IT and technology, he is also a business minded individual who will optimize both his skills in technology and business to create a more well-rounded corporate environment.
Early Life
[edit]In 1983, Al earned his M.S. in electrical engineering and would later earn his Ph.D. in computer engineering from Northeastern University. During his time here, Al would inquire different skill sets such as SaaS programming and cloud computing. With his masters in electrical engineering, he also knew the physical capabilities of networks with his knowledge in electrical circuiting. This would help him find physical problems in networks that other computer analysts would not be able to find.
BBN Computer Corporation
[edit]After Al received his degrees from Northeastern University, he started off working for a Massachusetts data communication company called, BBN Computer Corporation. He worked multiple different positions at this company, which would help him obtain many different skill sets to further prolong his career. He worked here as a hardware design engineer, software programmer, project manager and engineering manager.
NPC Computer Corporation
[edit]After his time as hardware design engineer, Al went right to work. He founded a computer hardware business that would go on to assemble over 10,000 personal computers annually called, NPC Computer Corporation. At this time, computer hardware's were becoming extremely popular, and with the all the hype invested into computers, his company generated revenues of approximately $25 million dollars, while still employing more than 70 professionals.
During his time here, Al designed his own software application program specifically for operating PC's manufacturing. This software was a vital key to the success of his company, and he probably would not be where he is today without that software to help him get off the ground running.
MIS Alliance
[edit]in 1999, Al co-founded MIS Alliance Corporation with a Northeastern University colleague who still runs the business today, Taraneh Satvat. MIS Alliance is an IT outsourcing company based out of Newton, Massachusetts. The need for the company was inspired by a demand for automation from digital consumers. Automation was the best way to serve their clients, much better than man-handling every aspect of their business that would insist in doing the same tedious tasks every day. Al also realized that automation would improve the company's efficiency as it would not need to hire actual people to do the job, the program would do it itself for free. This would increase the company's profitability.
After creating and implementing an IT-specific ticketing system, Al hired software engineers to work on developing a full-featured IT management solution. This would ultimately be called, IT Pro Dashboard.
Karisoft Corporation
[edit]In 2001, while still working for MIS Alliance, Al founded an advanced software solutions company that adheres to industry-specific management and operational challenges. This company is now known as Karisoft Corporation. Using the same product in IT Pro Dashboard, this software would help not just his company, but other IT corporations as well in addressing their specific IT consulting needs.
IT Pro Dashboard is a fully integrated, user-friendly application with more than fifteen years of innovation, design, implementation, and testing industry-leading features and functionality. Karisoft now is a registered Microsoft Partner, and their software is easily compatible with other popular business applications such as ACT!, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Outlook. The platform allows IT organizations to quickly and easily streamline all of their business operations in one ticketing application including, scheduling, staff utilization, workflow management, billings and accounting.
Al created this software to manage business systems much more efficiently and easier, as before IT Pro Dashboard was developed, many mid-sized IT companies had to manually enter in their books in regards to scheduling and workflow management, while some had to hire outside businesses to keep track of their billing and accounting. Now instead of hire outside contractors or doing it manually, Karisoft offers IT Pro Dashboard for mid-sized IT companies.
Karisoft has also developed a mobile access application to their software so executives, managers, and/or engineers of their respective IT companies can ticket their business or look into clients data on the road. They have also updated their software so clients of IT companies can be informed when a IT engineer will be arriving to repair other computers. This real time access also records the amount of time an IT company's engineer spends at a client's location.
Al Karimi is now just running Karisoft, as his partner Taraneh Satvat now owns more than half of MIS Alliance, and she manages that business. Al still owns a percentage of MIS Alliance, but his focus will stay with the business he found himself, Karisoft.
