I am interested in changes in thought taking place today in many fields, reflecting a growing appreciation of the complex relationships between parts of a whole. This involves concepts of dynamic nonlinear systems, complexity theory, chaos, feedbacks, and emergence. It suggests a movement away from a strictly reductionist view of the world, which studies components of systems in isolation. Instead, it suggests that problems, such as global climate change, need to be addressed by emphasizing dynamic relationships between parts of the system.
