I am writing this, partly as full disclosure since I am helping with articles about the region around the Lower Lake Fork Valley of the Gunnison River, Colorado, and, my great-great-granddad Nathan Chaffin Carr came there to settle in the late 1800s.

I am a professor at the University of Guadalajara (Universidad de Guadalajara) in Guadalajara Mexico. I have a PhD in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. I was born in Lafayette, Indiana, but grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

I have taught courses at the masters level in Advanced Unix/Linux Programming, Open Source Software, Open Source Databases, and Software for Control Systems.

My research is: software for control systems, discrete event control systems, safety critical control systems, light rail control systems, and open source software.

I am also planning to help with some of the wikipedia articles on open source software, and also to involve some students in helping with wikipedia articles.
