The Illustrated London News is a useful resource for images of events and objects that are sometimes relatively obscure and not easily found elsewhere. The specific example here is of war memorials erected after the First World War in the 1920s (and sometimes into the 1930s). The same applies to war memorials after the Second World War, but the focus here is more on the interwar period. Most photographs are of the unveiling of the memorials, though some are general news stories, remembrance ceremonies, or of the construction. The photos published prior to 1923 are sometimes public domain. But many of the photographs are after that cut-off date, are still in copyright and/or have unclear copyright status (e.g. with unclear attribution or attributed to defunct photo agencies).

The following is a start, with more to be added. The ultimate intent is to systematically attach these details in some useful way to the relevant articles or lists. This can be extended to other newspapers and resources (e.g. diagrams in architectural journals).
