World Revolution and Communist Tactics (German: Weltrevolution und kommunistische Taktik) is a pamphlet written by Anton Pannekoek and published in 1920. According to John Gerber, it is the most fundamental text of left communism.

Publication

According to the historian Frits Kool, Pannekoek probably wrote the text in Dutch and then translated it himself to German. Pannekoek published the Dutch version of World Revolution and Communist Tactics as a series of articles under the title "De Derde Internationale en de Wereldrevolutie" ("The Third International and the World Revolution") in the Dutch journal De Nieuwe Tijd in March and April 1920 under the pseudonym Karl Horner, which he used repeatedly. In August 1920, he published what was to become the pamphlet's postscript under the title "Voor het congres in Moskau" ("Before the Congress in Moscow") also in De Nieuwe Tijd. The German translation without the postscript appeared in the Third International's journal Kommunismus under the title "Die Entwicklung der Weltrevolution und die Taktik des Kommunismus" ("The Development of the World Revolution and Communist Tactics") on August 1. With the postscript, the pamphlet was published in Vienna by the publisher Verlag der Arbeiterbuchhandlung.
