This is a list of the Chiefs of Staff of the United States Army in order of longevity. There are currently thirty-nine Chiefs of Staff on the list and ten living Chiefs of Staff. The list is in descending order and is correct as of October 21, 2024. The oldest Chief of Staff is John L. Hines (1868 - 1968), who died at the age of 100 years, 145 days. The oldest living Chief of Staff is John A. Wickham. He is currently 96 years, 118 days old and has held the title of oldest living Chief of Staff since February 10, 2010.

To account for the different number of leap days within the life of each Chief of Staff, two measures of longevity are given. The first is the number of whole years the Chief of Staff lived, and the number of days past their last birthday. The second lists the total number of days lived by the Chief of Staff.
