My namesake

My IRL first name is Sam, so you can call me that if you'd like. I only use this username on Wikipedia and related sites, so if you see a SamX or Callitropsis somewhere else on the internet, it's not me. I went by a different name long ago, but I had it changed.

I've been around here since 2013, although my editing history contains several very long periods of inactivity. Most of my activity here could be described as maintenance or quality control, with a particular focus toward copyright cleanup. My (rather sparse) content creation is mostly in the topic areas of natural history and physical geography, which are my IRL interests. I'm studying environmental science as an undergraduate at a mid-sized public university in the United States, so I have access to some (but certainly not all) peer-reviewed academic publications through my institution.

I value accountability and I always welcome feedback and constructive criticism, so feel free to leave me a note on my talk page, ping me, or use some other means to get my attention if you think there's something I could be doing better. I can be reached via email, although I prefer to keep conversations public unless there's a compelling reason for privacy. I don't check my Wikipedia email all that often, so I'm more likely to respond if you notify me of the email on my talk page.

Disclosures

I operate two alternate accounts: SamX Public, which I use for editing from public computers and non-secure networks, and SamX's Test Account, which I mostly use for testing default settings for brand-new accounts, particularly the Vector 2022 skin. No substantive edits will be made from my test account. I also created a few doppelgangers for Jimbo Wales in 2013 when I was a new user before being informed that this practice was frowned upon. I no longer have access to these accounts. My first rename was done by a bureaucrat before global renames were implemented so I still have access to an account with that username, although I do not edit from it.
