Sigma Lambda Honorary (SLH) was found in 2006 to recognized student leaders who have been active in campus programming[1]. This is consistent with the interests of the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities here, with which Sigma Lambda is affiliated[2]. Sigma and Lambda represent the pillars of scholarship and leadership, upon which, Sigma Lambda is constructed. While service is not officially considered a pillar of Sigma Lambda, it is a quality by which potential candidates are to judged[1]. Consequently, some chapters of Sigma Lambda consider service to be a third pillar[3] .
Insignia
[edit]Sigma Lambda's insignia is composed of the Greek letters Sigma and Lambda which are spelled out in English below the respective letters. The insignia also bares a representation of a spotlight which highlights the words "Scholarship" and "Leadership." The spotlight alludes to the student programming aspect of Sigma Lambda while the words it highlights obviously represent the pillars of the organization.
Membership
[edit]Membership in Sigma Lambda Honorary is open to student programmers who have maintained a 3.0 GPA[1] . The minimum number of credit hours completed must be greater or equal to 31[1] . In addition, members of Sigma Lambda must have demonstrated excellence in leadership and a high level of personal integrity[1] .
