Bio
[edit]About Me
[edit]I'm a college student and barista in Northwestern United States. One of my main hobbies is reading, my favorite genres are non-fiction and memoirs. If I'm not reading I am typically listening to music, I grew up listening to Hair Metal with a couple of my favorite bands being KISS, Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister and many more. Some other miscellaneous facts about me are: I enjoy the tv series Grey's Anatomy, I currently have 3 border collies, which are known as Intelligent Workaholics because they are extremely smart dogs.[1]
My Wikipedia Interests
[edit]Wikipedia is a good place for banks of information and over time I plan on adding to the banks of information. I would start rather slowly with slightly changing spelling and grammatical errors then slowly work to potentially building more facts onto a previously created page.
Article Evaluation
[edit]I have always been a big coffee fanatic. One of the types of coffee that I enjoy is white coffee which is also growing in popularity. I wanted to be sure that the article is reliable. I visited the white coffee article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: some facts go without a source, the citations that are there are not the most reliable, and some aspects of the article are more represented than others.
Missing Citations
[edit]There are very few citations on this Wikipedia page. How the page is formatted has five countries and what they consider white coffee. Three of the five articles do not contain any source of information that violates Wikipedia's citation rule about verifiability, which states that every fact going into the encyclopedia must have a citation leading to books, magazines, and reputable websites.
Source Reliability
[edit]One source consisted of a Wikipedia page about New York City which didn’t seem very reliable to take a piece of information from another Wikipedia page. One of the other citations leads to a dead website and the others lead to web pages that are heavy in advertisements, which is less information. Just after doing a simple search in google, I was able to find more up-to-date sources with more of an abundance of information.
Missing Representation
[edit]This article seemed to be going a good route with the introduction which continued onto the different interpretations of what white coffee is, but most of the sections were lacking some points. Such as how the main spices added to Yemen white coffee is a mixture called hawaij. Another point left out of the United States is that one white coffee shot is the same amount of caffeine as 2 shots of the regular espresso. Overall in the sections, Indonesia, Lebanon, and Yemen, the writer could have gone in more and discussed in-depth as they did for the United States and Malaysia. Another thing that could have helped the article represent more of the different types of white coffee would be by adding photos of the different types so the article reader would see on the Wiki page what each type looks like.
Summary
[edit]Overall, this article has some information but is still a work in progress. Some areas could use a source for their information to be considered more valid, the pre-existing citations could be updated with citations that are considered more reliable or not dead, and last, some sections could use more information to be more thorough. All of these slight tweaks would benefit the reader's understanding of the different types of white coffee in different regions in the world.
