I'm Colleen Snow, a senior at American University. I'm studying communications and marketing; over the past three years, I have learned how to write basic news articles and press releases, make short films with Final Cut Pro, create a personal website via HTML coding, make posters with Photoshop and design a marketing campaign offline and online. Now, I am studying the value of crowdsourcing and the widespread use of Wikipedia in my Wikipedia and Public Knowledge class, and I plan to use what I learn in that class to make important contributions to pages on this site. In my Digital Grassroots Advocacy class, I am learning how to successfully use social media sites and mobile devices for online grassroots campaign. I hope to apply all these skills to a career in social marketing campaigns for public health organizations. I grew up in northern New Jersey, which is nothing like the MTV show Jersey Shore, and I now live in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (well, only during winter break and the summer months). In my free time, I love to cook and bake! The Food Network and the Cooking Channel are some of my favorite channels to watch on television. I also love to read, watch movies, hike and camp.
