In March 2010, it was confirmed that he had signed a six episode deal to join ABC drama Grey's Anatomy's seventh season. His character Dr. Scott Karev was brought in by the hospital's board to help in the aftermath of the shooting but would discover his brother Dr. Alex Karev already worked for the hospital. Despite this, in the mid-season finale, Murray's character was shot when leaving the hospital and in the first episode of 2015, Scott left the show to take up a six month contract in London, England.
In January 2015, Murray confirmed he had left the show due to Prison Break, a show co-written by himself and Paul Scheuring, getting picked up by Fox for thirteen episodes to air later in the year. The show began filming in February 2015 and is due to air at the end of August. Along with writing the show, Murray will star as the main protagonist at the insistence of Fox officials.
