[edit]It's way past time for this stuff. You can call Trump's statements lies or fabrications or even falsehoods if you insist on being delicate about it. But you can't call them questionable or controversial or salesmanlike or disputed or even faulty. The man is a serial, pathological liar. Isn't it about time for the journalistic community to work up the courage to report this with clear eyes?
According to his followers:Is Mr. Trump a Liar?
[edit]“The rules are simple: he lies to us, we know he is lying, he knows that we know he is lying, but he keeps on lying to us, and, of course, we keep pretending to believe him.” Said by Anonymous Deplorable at a Trump rally in a deep southern state.
Hyperbole at DT article
[edit]- I agree with others here; the elephant in the room is that many reliable sources have found Trump to be uniquely untruthful (even for a politician), and to be untruthful in unique ways (for instance, repeating the same falsehoods after they've been repeatedly discredited). Our site policies (including WP:BLP) say that we need to convey that, clearly and accurately, but for whatever reason we have a couple of editors who are extremely resistant to following where the sources lead in this particular case. This blizzard of overlapping RfC's, silly euphemisms, and bowdlerization is becoming disruptive and needs to stop; it has taken on the appearance of a lawyerly campaign of vexatious wiki-process and wiki-litigation aimed at obscuring, rather than improving, the article. Challenge to Second Amendment-tors
[edit]Some unscrupulous "media-types" have mis-interpreted what he said and have misjudged his innocent intentions to improve his poll numbers. This is just another in a long line of left wing plots to dis-credit another republican.

- Deutsche Bank is owed $365 million for a hotel in Washington DC, a hotel in Chicago, and a golf course in Florida. There is a $14 billion fine being negotiated with Deutsche Bank and the Department of Justice for matters unrelated to Trump, that he as President would have power to influence.[5]
- The Internal Revenue Service receives a new appointed head by the President of the United States every five years, the next head due November 13, 2017. Trump is currently under audit by the Internal Revenue Service.[2]
- The National Labor Relations Board sometimes has had disputes with the Trump organization, and Trump will be appointing the members of the organization.[2]
- The Trump organization's foreign investments around the world will be affected by policy decisions while Trump is president.[2] The organization has business holdings in at least 20 countries.[6]
- The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China currently rents space in Trump Tower.[7]
- Trump favors completing the Dakota Access Pipeline, and owns stock in the company building it.[8]Victor Grigas 14:34, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

Trumps relationship with THE TRUTH
[edit]- But a survey of Mr. Trump’s four decades of wheeling and dealing reveals an equally operatic record of dissembling and deception, some of it unabashedly confirmed by Mr. Trump himself, who nearly 30 years ago first extolled the business advantages of “truthful hyperbole.” Indeed, based on the mountain of court records churned out over the span of Mr. Trump’s career, it is hard to find a project he touched that did not produce allegations of broken promises, blatant lies or outright fraud.

- Many people believe something when they hear it...but...they don't hear when it is dis-credited.
- Too many of DT's statements go unchallenged in the moment he is making them. EX:"What did you mean Mr.Trump? Jouralist speak to the candidates for us. Swawn Otto Anti-science is on the right Marcia McNutt
- DT is compulsive...a habitual behavior...he will not change

- grounding things in the evidence
- Peer review is the best system devised to assure vetting.
- Half the population doesn't believe in Evolution
- His surrogates regurgitate what DT has to say
- DT promotes a world of lock-ups and surveillance and fugitive hunting squads...a vast system of indiscriminate catch-and-punish that works just as hard to catch hotel maids and landscapers as it does gang members and terrorists

- "If presidents or prime ministers plan to govern in an authoritarian manner, they will emphasize loyalty when picking advisers and by relying more on military and security personnel. If they plan to govern democratically, they will emphasize selecting advisers with legislative and political experience who can advance the policy agenda effectively. Trump’s administration picks so far have emphasized the former, with only a peppering of the latter. Notably, what’s missing are policy experts with established ideas."
politico.com/magazine/story/2016/12/ Susan Glasser essay
[edit]- [1]
- "When we assigned a team of reporters at Politico during the primary season to listen to every single word of Trump’s speeches, we found that he offered a lie, half-truth, or outright exaggeration approximately once every five minutes—for an entire week. And it didn’t hinder him in the least from winning the Republican presidential nomination. Not only that, when we repeated the exercise this fall, in the midst of the general election campaign, Trump had progressed to fibs of various magnitudes just about once every three minutes! So much for truth: By the time Trump in September issued his half-hearted disavowal of the Obama “birther” whopper he had done so much to create and perpetuate, one national survey found that only 1 in 4 Republicans was sure that Obama was born in the U.S., and various polls found that somewhere between a quarter and a half of Republicans believed he’s Muslim. So not only did Trump think he was entitled to his own facts, so did his supporters. It didn’t stop them at all from voting for him."
- Trump is entitled to his own facts.

Goldwater Rule for Psychiatrists
[edit]By Brian Resnick@B_resnickbrian@vox.com May 25, 2017, 11:10am EDT VOX
- Never before has a president come with such a massive trail of behavior to analyze, in the form of 100,000-plus tweets, hundreds of hours of TV appearances, and a huge trove of journalism documenting his actions, decisions, and lies. He also continues to behave in ways that defy historical precedent for candidate, president and ex-president — for instance, intervening over and over in an investigation into his campaign’s ties to Russia and continuing to claim the 2020 election was stolen from him. Citizen Trump’s digital trail makes him as one of the most analyzable public figures in history.
- Trump has narcissistic tendencies, avoids acquiring expertise, is impatient, impetuous, and obsessed with winning, often lies, turns around on campaign promises, ran an extremely disorganized White House, and a remarkably questionable campaign to be re-elected in 2024. If Citizen Trump’s behavior is purely the result of his personality — and not a disease --- that’s still consequential. Psychologists generally feel personality is a stable trait. And that means someone's past behavior predicts their future behavior. What’s more, research finds ascending the ladder of power only magnifies your personality traits and makes you more likely to act in accordance with them. You don’t need a diagnosis to say Citizen Trump has a troubling pattern of behavior or to conclude that pattern is bound to continually repeat. The danger is real and predictable.

- The ODonnell conversation with Gartner delves deeper into Trump’s personality, characterizing his behavior as “hypomanic,” a trait that contributes to his unpredictability and potential destructiveness. Gartner warns of Trump’s penchant for revenge and poses a chilling prognosis that one of excessive punishment and destruction aimed at those he perceives as his enemies.
- Dr. Gartner, who has been largely silent since Biden’s inauguration, emerged to clarify his stance on both Trump and Biden, stressing the potential danger posed by Trump’s psychological state. According to Gartner, “based on his behavior, and in my opinion, Donald Trump is dangerously demented.” He points to Trump’s “phonemic paraphasias” and tangential speech, which are indicative, in his view, of gross signs of dementia, a condition not associated with normal aging but with severe cognitive deterioration.
