- Great, TKS. That's the thing about notes...your never sure if they will be helpful but where do I put them until I/WE Know we don't need them. :~)...```Buster Seven Talk 17:56, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Rules, routines and best practices for curating a discussion
[edit]- critique
- shifting norms and practices
- contemporary ways of knowing
- rational debate,
- fractured and fragmented, adversarial tone
- seek to repair
- try to balance the daily realities of partisan, sometimes vicious discourse, with the responsibility of maintaining a working decorum among participants
- not the arena to resolve your dispute nor the place to have your conflict mediated.
- the argument culture...debate between polarized opponents...creates an atmosphere of unrelenting contention...causes damage to the environment of listening and sharing.
Hatting or collapsing
[edit]- to hat or collapse a conversation is an entirely defensive act...It is n't in no way meant to offend. It defends the project talk page against the all-to-common partisan fights that litter WP: the "he said/she said" bickering that does get the group anywhere except further from the work of searching for answers.
- as curator of discussions I sometimes find it is necessary to stop a discussion before the "calamity of attacks" gains a purchase or grip on what we do here. Buster Seven Talk 05:25, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
