Panyang is a payam (payam is a unit of administration below the county in South Sudan) situated in Northern Ruweng Administrative Area.Panyang was the headquarter of Jau County before it was relocated to Yida. Panyang is historical area known for being the administrative center of Awet Section of Panaruu during the colonial administration in Sudan.It's a home to Aniek Clan of Panaruu. Aniek is one of the twelve clans that made up Panaruu Dinka.
