Good, you?
[edit]Thanks for checking in! I'm still very shy with my use of the tools, terrified I'm going to mess something up. And this stupid new job I have leaves me less time to be able to edit. Other than that things are going good. How about you? Peace, delldot talk 00:01, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

My RfA
[edit]Thanks for your support in my recent RfA which passed unanimously - thus proving that you can indeed fool some of the people some of the time. I'm still coming to terms with the new functionality I have, but so far nothing bad has happened. As always, if there's anything you need to let me know, just drop me a line on my Talk page. My RFA
[edit]Thank you very much for giving me a congratulations =] I'm still waiting for the crats to work, though. --Deryck C. 10:44, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Entrusted with the Bucket!
[edit]Thank you for supporting me in my RfA. Thanks for your vote, I've received an overwhelming 96% support and successfully took a copy of bucket-and-mop from the main office!
School graduation exam and HKCEE are both pressing in, so I might become inactive for a while. But soon after that, I look forward to working with you! --Deryck C. 03:04, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Your recent vandalism reversion missed some changes
[edit]Recently you attempted to revert vandalism an IP vandal performed on the African American article. You did miss quite a bit of vandalism.
I feel it's important to fight vandals, so I want to be clear that I appreciate any kindred spirits doing the same; however, incomplete reversion of vandalism might cause another editor to see your revision comments and assume you'd completely eradicated the vandalism, allowing (in this case) some pretty heinous text to remain.
Thanks for helping improve Wikipedia, and thanks for understanding the constructive spirit in which I've written this message. :-)

Happy Spread-the-funny and-slighty-random-love day!
[edit]Thanks!
[edit]Thanks for your support on my RfA. It passed with 55/0/0. I'll try my best to be worthy of the trust the community has put in me. If there are any of my actions you have a problem with or a question about, please feel free to discuss this with me and if needed to revert me. If there is anything else I can help you with (backlogs, comments, ...), you can always contact me on my talk page. Fram 15:02, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Japan? Don't joke.
[edit]Of course I don't live in Japan. I think I've asserted a few times down there in RfA that I'm a Hong Kong Chinese. More than that, my surname "Chan" quite explicitly suggests that I'm Chinese.
A thing that could've distracted you is that I speak Japanese. In fact, about 50,000 people in Hong Kong speak Japanese, more than 80% of them learning the language as a foreign tongue. The others are Japanese expats and Japanese-blood hybrids.
I remember that back in Europe a few months ago I was frequently asked if I was Japanese. My "standardized" (because so many people asked) answer was: "Is it really so difficult to differentiate between a Chinese and a Japanese?" It is true that the external outlook of Chinese and Japanese are similar and the only people who could separate a Chinese and a Japanese would be the Chinese and Japanese themselves.
One linguistic aspect that could help telling between a Chinese and Japanese: Since Chinese doesn't possess a consonant that looks anything like the english "th", Chinese people always pronounce "thin" as "sin" or "fin", and "there" as "dare". On the other hand, Japanese people often pronounce words such as "suck" and "buck" with an emphatic "khu" sound; "special" and "bill" with an emphatic "ru". --Deryck C. 05:17, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
RfA thanks
[edit]Hi, Mr Driver. Just a quick official note of thanks for your support at my RfA. And for being the first to congrats me - while I was asleep! Thanks again. Bubba hotep 21:57, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Of course it's okay. bibliomaniac15 03:12, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for supporting my RfA. I'm not sure the Wannabe Kate link is appropriate though, because it may seem like editcountitis to some. My record is more than any specific numbers, I hope. (To clarify, the talk page of the RfA already includes the relevant data, albeit hours old.) Xiner (talk, email) 03:20, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Oh no, of course I want a link. That's why I added the stats and the link before anyone else had a chance to. It's just that to place it so prominently...well, it's not that big a deal, and I don't want you to think for a moment I didn't appreciate your thoughtfulness...argh, I hate text sometimes. My RfA
[edit]Thank you for your support in my my recent RfA in which I withdrew because the oppose votes were almost equalling the supporters. I then decided to leave my account (Tellyaddict) and start fresh under a new username, however I quickly decided to reconsider after another user persuaded me not to leave the account - I am now glad I did reconsider because leaving that account and creating a new one was too hasty so I've decided to improve rather than starting again! I hope we can remain civil and that there were no negative feelings caused. Again, thanks for your support even though I withdrew it, your vote is much appreciated! Regards - Tellyaddict (Talk) 19:40, 10 March 2007 (UTC) |
- Again, thank you for your comments on my RfA and your kind mesages on my talk page, my leaving this account and creating a new one was a very silly idea as I can see now, again thanks and hopefully in the future my next RfA will be third time lucky!! Best Regards - Tellyaddict (Talk) 09:43, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Your sig
[edit]Greetings, I was noticing your signature and thought it could use some improvement: BuickCenturyDriver (Honk, odometer) since the odometer links to a Wikipedia related site I thought it odd to see the little out arrow on it. Cheers. (→Netscott) 00:47, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- No, no there's nothing "wrong" with your signature I just thought that with some coding you could make the last link cleaner (like above here). That's it. :-) (→Netscott) 00:54, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the Welcome

Hi, Sorry for the blatant spam, but you have yourself down as interested at WikiProject user warnings WP:UW. There is a discussion on going here that might be of interest to you about the future of this project. There are two strawpolls on the talk pages and the second one is about the future of the WP:UW project. Now we have the end in sight we are looking at wrapping up the project and merging it with Template messages/User talk namespace WP:UTM and creating a one stop shop for all userspace template issue. As you have yourself down as interested in this project we thought you may have some input on this issue, and would like you to visit the discussion and give any thoughts you may have on the matter. Cheers Khukri 10:12, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

re: Speedy deletion
[edit]I am familiar with deletion policy. WP:Speedy is invoked for pages that do not assert notability in any way, whereas WP:AFD applies when notability is asserted but questionable. When I tagged it, Phineas Gage (band) contained no assertion of notability and no references. I realize that it was a work in progress, but some basic assertion of notability is generally pretty easy to come up with. Hundreds of articles on local bands are added daily, and I occasionally tag a few; this looked no different. So you added some refs and removed the tag; I see no harm done. Although now the only ref currently on the page is a myspace page. Anyway, point taken about ghits, but don't tell me I'm being subjective with my tags. Hasty is perhaps more accurate, but I was not any more subjective than I am about anything else. I have no bias toward or against experimental or death metal bands. Cheers. Feeeshboy 04:51, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- That is funny. First I was sure it was a vanity page, then I saw the ghits and thought I had jumped the gun, and now I'm back to the start. AFD is the right move, though, as hopefully the page's creator will see a consensus and understand that there's a policy behind it. Feeeshboy 05:56, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Are we looking at the same article? Phineas Gage seems to be about a railroad worker who suffered from a traumatic brain injury. Where's the page for the other band? Feeeshboy 06:07, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, no. I think that's a third band! Feeeshboy 06:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
