Star Wars: Droids (1985–86)
[edit]The series follows the exploits of R2-D2 and C-3PO, the droids who have appeared in all eight live-action Star Wars films, as they face off against gangsters, criminals, pirates, Boba Fett, IG-88, the Galactic Empire and other threats. The series takes place between the events depicted in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
Ewoks (1985–86)
[edit]The series focuses on the adventures of Wicket W. Warrick and his friends on the forest moon of Endor during the years before the events of the two Ewok films and Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.[6] Unlike the films, the characters speak English (called Basic in the Star Wars universe) instead of their native language (though Ewokese phrases and songs are occasionally used). The primary recurring villains are Morag the Tulgah Witch, who had a personal grudge against the tribe's shaman, Master Logray, and the Duloks, a rival species that is related to the Ewoks.[7]
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008–)
[edit]Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008–2014), is the first CGI-animated series about the franchise, it was introduced with a theatrically released animated film of the same name, the series is set during the Clone Wars between films Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.[8][9][10][11]
Star Wars Rebels (2014–18)
[edit]Fourteen years after the fall of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order and the rise of the Galactic Empire depicted in Revenge of the Sith,[12] a motley group of rebels unite aboard a freighter starship called the Ghost and conduct covert operations against the Imperial garrison on and around the planet Lothal and other planets that are menaced by the Empire.
Star Wars Rebels serves as the CGI animated series follow-up to the previous series. It aired on Disney XD, and is set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, the series follows a band of rebels as they fight the Galactic Empire.[13][14][15]
The series was renewed for a second season on October 2, 2014,[16] a third on November 30, 2015,[17] and a fourth on March 3, 2017.[18] In April 2017, it was announced that the fourth season would serve as the final season of the series.[19]
Star Wars Resistance (2018–)
[edit]Young New Republic pilot Kazuda Xiono is recruited by the Resistance to spy on the growing threat of the First Order.

Untitled Cassian Andor series | 1 | TBA | 2020–2021[3] | TBA | Stephen Schiff[30] | In development |
By November 2017, Disney and Lucasfilm were developing a Star Wars live-action series specifically for release on its new streaming service Disney+, which it planned to launch before the end of 2019.[31] In February 2018, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that there were several Star Wars live-action series in development for the service.[32]
The Mandalorian
[edit]The series takes place "after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order" and follows "a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."[33]
In March 2018, Jon Favreau was hired to write and produce a live-action Star Wars series for Disney's upcoming streaming service.[34] The series is set three years after the end of Return of the Jedi and will feature new characters using similar motion capture as Favreau's live-action film The Jungle Book.[35] In August 2018, it was reported that the series would cost about "$100 million for 10 episodes."[36] With the start of production in October 2018, Favreau announced that the series would be titled The Mandalorian.[37] In November, it was announced that Pedro Pascal would star as the titular character,[38] with Gina Carano and Nick Nolte joining as co-stars.[39][40] The following month, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, and Werner Herzog were announced as having joined the cast.[41] The series is expected to premiere on November 12, 2019, with the launch of Disney+.[3]
Untitled Cassian Andor series
[edit]The series follows rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion.[42]
In November 2018, a prequel series to the 2016 film Rogue One centered on Cassian Andor was confirmed to be in development, and described as a "rousing spy thriller". Diego Luna will reprise his role for the series.[42] Stephen Schiff was hired to serve as showrunner and executive producer of the series, which was developed by Jared Bush who wrote the pilot script and a series bible.[30] In April 2019, Alan Tudyk was confirmed to be reprising his role of K-2SO.[43] Filming is expected to start in October 2019.[44] The series is expected to debut within the second year of the streaming service.[3]

Potential projects
[edit]A live-action television project has also been in varying stages of development at Lucasfilm since 2005, when Lucas announced plans for a television series set between the prequel and original trilogies.[83] Producer Rick McCallum revealed the working title, Star Wars: Underworld, in 2012,[84] and said in 2013 that 50 scripts had been written.[85] He called the project "The most provocative, the most bold and daring material that we've ever done."[85] The proposed series explores criminal and political power struggles in the decades prior to A New Hope,[83] and as of December 2015 was still in development at Lucasfilm.[86]
Abandoned projects
[edit]A parody animated series called Star Wars Detours was produced prior to the Disney acquisition,[87] but its release was postponed in 2013 and it ultimately never aired,[9] despite 39 episodes having been completed and 62 additional scripts finished.[88]
