Glen Sproul dit MacDonald is an American academic and geographer. He is a distinguished professor and holds the Endowed Chair in Geography of California and the American West at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is Chair of the UCLA Canadian Studies Program and Director of the White Mountains Research Center.
Early life and education
[edit]MacDonald received his AB in geography from University of California, Berkeley and MS in geography from the University of Calgary. He received his PhD in Botany with a Geology Minor from the University of Toronto in 1984
Career
[edit]His area of study is on climate change and its impacts on ecosystems and society—with a focus on drought, water resources, coastal marshes, and wetlands
He also studies sustainability, in particular California and Southwestern agriculture, cities and ecosystems.
