House Bill 1153, the Washington octopus protection bill is legislation passed in 2024 to prohibit octopus aquaculture in Washington (state). As of February 29, it was pending the governor's signature to become law. The bill was introduced by Representative Strom Peterson.[1] It is the first ban on octopus farming in the world.[2]
