From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA) was founded in 1959 to "unite the real estate brokers, and their associates in The Bahamas", "to promote and maintain the highest standards of conduct...as expressed in the Code of Ethics", and "to prevent infringements" in the real estate industry in The Bahamas.

Today the real estate industry of The Bahamas is in good standings even with the economic situation of the USA. Sale prices have come down to a more realistic market level compared to how most real estate in The Bahamas was previously overpriced.

Just a short two years ago real estate in The Bahamas was at the highest level it had ever been on. The market was booming on all of the major islands of The Bahamas. At the end of January 2009 it was reported that high-end real estate prices declined by 10%.

Real estate in The Bahamas is on an upswing. Real estate transactions and inquiries have increased from a year ago when a small number of people had the monies to invest.

Bahamas MLS

[edit]

On March 17th 2008 The Bahamas MLS (Multiple Listing Service) was soft-launched for the Bahamas real estate professionals. The Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA) implemented the Bahamas MLS which currently has over 145 licensed members using the system.

After consulting with a few web developers BREA decided to go with the system provided by the company INTERFACExpress. There are a few tweaks to be done to this system to improve the interface, but all in all in works great.
