The purpose of the Digo Market is to provide revenue for an MMO called Furcadia. Since Furcadia is to remain free, they sell these items, or addons, to cover costs. These costs include maintaining servers and paying employees. In essence, the Digo Market is what fuels Furcadia.

Payment

[edit]

Digo Market is very flexible with it's payment options. Upon checkout, buyers can use a variety of services such as Paypal, Moneybookers, and PayByCash. TrialPay offers can be completed for free dragon scales. Additionally, money and checks can be sent in by mail if needed.

Sales

[edit]

Digo Market runs a variety of sales throughout the year. They consist of rarely sold items or packages of existing items at a marked down price. Sales can run for a day, a week, or during an entire season.

The news screen displays a majority of the sales. Emits are also made in Furcadia in the chat window approximately every three hours. Furres are given the option to ignore these, if desired.[1]

Digos

[edit]

Digos are the avatars that can be bought from the Digo Market. There are five categories. These include Mythicals, Wings, Ferians, Gendered Avatars, and Seasonals. Digos can be bought in monthly and yearly subscriptions. There are even for-life digos which tend to cost more, but they never expire. Each for-life digo comes with a description tag and the buyer's name is put on a thank you page.

Mythicals

[edit]

Mythical digos are generally larger than the others, and can perform special effects.

  • Dragon can blow out dragon breath.
  • Phoenix can light up a flame.
  • Unicorn can light up a glamorous spark.
  • Kirin can summon up a cloud to ride on.
  • Kitterwing can toggle between small or large.
  • Gryffe is a kittyhawk that can turn into an Eagle.
  • Naga is a snake-like avatar which can produce a water tunnel.

Wings

[edit]

Wings are attachable to all free species except the bugge. There are plans in the future to have wings attach to every avatar, as well as introduce smaller version called 'chibi' wings for smaller avatars.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).

  • Tri-Colored, Butterfly, Bat, and Prime wings are currently available.
  • Classic Wings, the first wing type, have been discontinued. They are only available for-life.

Ferians

[edit]

Unlike other avatars, Ferians walk on all four legs. They are more realistic when compared to real animals.

Nobles and Furlings

[edit]

Nobles and Furlings are Furcadia's only gendered avatars. There is only a male and female version of these avatars, so unspecified furres use the male avatar.

  • Furlings are "child furres"; they are not allowed in adult maps.
  • Nobles include Feline, Canine, Equine, Rodent, Musteline and Hyooman. They have royal appearance.

Seasonals

[edit]

Seasonal Digos are only sold during certain times of the year.

  • Kiwi was the first Seasonal avatar. It is usually available in the summer.
  • Lovebird, a peacock with heart markings, is sold around February.
  • Floxen, a foxen with a flower on it, is sold during the spring.
  • Toasterwing, a flying toaster, is sold as an April Fools joke.
  • Chinchilla, and Woolie are sold during the spring.
  • Werewolf and Bat are sold during the fall.
  • Reindeer and Penguin are brought out for the winter.
  • Toytle and Tusker are sold during the summer.
  • Fluffs and Floofs were released as an April Fools day joke in 2010.
  • Flynx, a bobcat / lynx digo. It has a flower on its back, like the Floxen.
  • Snayle, a large snail.

Description Tags

[edit]

Description tags can be bought to be displayed in character descriptions. Some description tags such as food and fireworks do special things.

Edible Tags

[edit]

Most food description tags can be eaten. Sometimes they can turn the eater into a Digo that lasts up to an hour. Foods like Pongo Juice and Pizza may distort text sent for to fifteen minutes. Pongo juice can also flip the screen upside down and change the character's colors for fifteen minutes.

Upon logging out (or in some cases switching to a different map), any existing effects are stopped. The next time the character logs in, everything will be normal.

Water balloons and pillows can be eaten, but they don't do anything special; although, they can be repeatedly thrown back and fourth. Candy canes have a command to be eaten, but it simply sends out an error message.

Fireworks

[edit]

During July, fireworks are sold on the Digo Market. There are currently five different types: American, Canadian, Floral, Flammable, and Finale (which includes all four of the previous types).

Although Furcadia only uses 256 colors, fireworks use a particle engine to display them in 32-bit. This is the same particle engine used to generate the Unicorn's glamor effect. Currently iPhone Client users can not see the particle engine effects.

On Australian Day, a special version of Australian fireworks are sold. During some festivals, a carnival mask that can shoot off fireworks is also sold.

Versus Sales

[edit]

Furcadia is known to have versus sales. During these sales, the Digo Market sells tags to identify your team. A very popular versus sale is Pirates vs. Ninjas. To this day, ninjas have never won, though the numbers get intense. Each tag counts as one ticket in a huge raffle. On the day of the raffle, a trivia contest is held that relates to the versus contest. A few free tickets are given out to trivia winners.

During versus sales, a newer artist is commissioned. They draw the rivalry between the two sides in their style and it is displayed as official versus contest artwork. This helps give the artist more experience as well as help to give them publicity.
