[edit]"I came out as gay when I was 13, I was quite lucky to have a family who accepted the fact I was gay. I knew I was gay when I was around 5 years old but always bottled it up and felt that I would be frowned upon. I knew that I was gay from a young age as I would always find myself looking at men but not at women. I used to always hear people outside and at school being homophobic and that made it harder for me to come out during my teenage years at high school as I felt I would be attacked or verbally abused, So throughout my high school experience I couldn't be my true self and always sat with my support teachers, I suppose I just felt safe there. I came out to my mum in 2013 when I was 13 years old as I did not want to leave it to much longer as I needed to know for myself if it would be accepted, My mum gave me a huge cuddle and told me she would love me no matter what my sexuality was as I was still her son".
