Ryan David Frederick is on trial for first-degree murder, a capital charge, in the January 17, 2008 shooting death of police officer Jarrod Shivers at Frederick's home in Chesapeake, Virginia during the execution of an knock-and-announce/exigent circumstances police raid serving a warrant to search for a marijuana grow operation.[1] The case is notable for the magnitude of support the defendant is receiving from his community,[2] the press,[3] and blogs.[4]
