Hi, Peter Shanks here - also known as botheredbybees.

I'm not sure what prompted me to create a user ID on Wikipedia after all these years, it just felt like the right time. I've been contributing on and off since nearly the very beginning of the Wikipedia. I think my first addition was the creation of a page on the cello, back in 2000 or so.

In the intervening years I've caused some angst for the Wikipedia folk, having the dubious honor of being one of the first to incorrectly cite Wikipedia, and prompting them to create the Standard GFDL violation letter.

I got much better at GFDL, copyleft and OSI, and subsequently created the first mobile phone capable version of the 'pedia and a couple of other sites which used Wikipedia content - none of which have survived the rapid evolution of the web.

Nowadays I'm quieter on the webdev front; having spent a few years teaching I.T. then working as a support officer on board the CSIRO research vessel, RV Investigator. Currently I'm a data officer for the ice breaker RSV Nuyina. I've also created a page for my current home in Port Cygnet which seems to have picked up a another user name: Botheredbybees (different capitalisation)
