did you know that squirrels like beer? I did not know that.

Hey, good to meet you from the vandalism IRC channel. Thanks for the anti-vandal work! You said you never get messages, so I figured I'd prove you wrong! Peace, delldot | talk 01:10, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Haha, wow! And here I thought that I'd clicked on User:Shanel's userpage again. But no, it was an actual true message alert! Thanks for your message. Reverting vandalism is fun! Perhaps too fun. I could become addicted. Argh, maybe I already am! Jude(talk, contribs) 01:19, 28 February 2006 (UTC) (PS: Beer?)

Hey, sorry about the SINA thing, but what I added wasn't nonsense. S.I.N.A. was actually a real thing that really existed. It was started in 1959. I tried to look it up here on the Wik but couldn't find it. I had seen information about it on the bonus features of "Day of The Dolphin" DVD, so I thought I'd add it and wait and see if any editors could shed more light on it. After researching it further, I found out that when it was started it was actually a prank by a famous comedian/prankster/hoaxer. As soon as I returned here to make some changes, I had already received you rather rude message. I am not sure, but I think S.I.N.A. WAS a worthy addition. I am a longtime Wikipedia user and have contributed some very useful and interesting content, but I am having trouble getting used to operating it through all this weird restructuring. Anyway, thanks for calling me a vandal and being so impolite. Have a WONDERFUL day. Best regards, See Haus. 2nd March 2006

subst tags

[edit]

Thanks for fixing the prod tags. I just re-read Wikipedia:Template_substitution and see that prod is listed as a template not to substitute. I guess I'd assumed it was since afd is required to be subst'd. OhNoitsJamieTalk 00:16, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

I thank you for getting rid of the vandalism on my Userpage. I probably would not have noticed it for a while, which could have been slighty embarrassing. But thanks to your eagle eyes, my page was restored to it's natuaral order.ONEder Boy 18:07, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

JS/CSS stuff

[edit]

I've been informed that there is a combination of CSS/JS code that will put tabs into menus. Could you have a look at User:JoanneB/monobook.css and User:JoanneB/monobook.js and figure out how we could put some of my new tabs into a dropdown menu, and let me have my full names back? I'd like to put "who" and "proxy" into a single dropdown called "IP" and "Block," "Log," and "Unblock" into a dropdown called "Block." If we get that working, there are some tabs from Commons related to images that I'd like to bring over and put in a dropdown. Thanks a bunch! Essjay TalkContact 10:28, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

I've fixed the dropdown issue... you need to backslash-escape the apostrophe in "interiot's tool". See this diff for the code I used. Cheers, Alphax τεχ 13:54, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Could I get one of you two to integrate that to my settings...Nothing good comes from me trying to add things...Essjay TalkContact 15:00, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

The specified Armenian timelines are unique contributions of the author. As they are collection of dates and events, and it is the organization of the dates makes it unique to this author. There is no page on the internet that organized these events within these categories. This set of pages are UNIQUE and not copyvios. Welcome to Esperanza!

[edit]

Welcome, Bookofjude/Archives/August 2004-April 2006, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of KnowledgeOfSelf, JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!

Thanks! - Srikeit(talk ¦ ) 11:33, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Angel

[edit]

Yeah, I saw it and tried to get you some references, but unfortunately as of lately I have been caught-up in some incivility fractions towards me from, shall we say, some users here (oh boy). But, if you look at the source I gave you, it does explicitly state ...the debt owed to Z.... in regards to angelology and demonology; although, you`d have to browse the pages by clicking the button on the right hand side of that encyclopedia to really get to the actual dates of 500-600 BC. Do what you can as for now, we can always make minor changes later if need be, other than that, you have convinced me that we should use both sides of the arguement; great job Jude. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

Unnecessary category

My unblock

[edit]

I want to know what was the reason for my block yesterday. What I have to do to not be block? What is your problem of deleting 1 category? This category if you go to see, it is unnecessary. The category:cypriot people is so good structured that help anyone to find the proper article because of the subcategories. this is not done with the greek cypriot category where there is a mess.

reference style

[edit]

I watched your reference work on phimosis with admiration until I realized that the reader can no longer see the reference, that if the link is broken the actual journal reference is gone, and that print versions have no actual references. Are you aware of these problems? Please don't convert to this style on pages with extensive journal references. Thanks for understanding. alteripse 11:38, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

[edit]
Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

no title

[edit]

I feel guilty because I snapped at you. I am really sorry about this. I have very protective feelings toward meta. When I started editing it (nearly 4 years ago, just after it was created I think), we were only three over there. Brion, 24 and myself (mostly anonymous at that time). Nobody else for months. At that time, it was merely a dumping ground for the english wikipedia. Then, people slowly came and we decided for it not to be the waste bin, but a multilingual neutral ground. For organisation certainly. But not only. On all collective projects, there is a need for a "less strict" place, where people can release pressure. Meta was just this place. I spent a lot of time organising it at some point (roughly 2 years ago). Now, there are too many places to edit. For me, there is now the french association wiki, the foundation wiki, the internal wiki and the very private board wiki. Before, the main two organisers were Angela and myself. I guess none of us too has any more time to take care of it. Still, it is hard to see comments saying how much a mess it is (because it belittle the work we did on it in the past) and hard to see people just listing pages which, sometimes, had major impacts on what the project is *now*. So, I feel quite motherly feelings for this place and I am quite touchy toward deletion issues. Sorry again. I hope you forgive me and do not keep harsh feelings. Anthere 16:19, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
