Generally, I am somewhere near a populist in terms of political beliefs. I am generally liberal on social issues, and while I hold certain beliefs and attitudes that could be considered conserative, it is not a requirement for the entire country to follow me or subscribe to them.
To make a long story short, I'm pro-choice, pro-strong defense, neutral on gay marriage but strongly against a constitutional gay marriage ban, isolationist in terms of foreign policy (U.S. foreign policy throughout my lifetime has been too inconsistent for me to agree with it), and somewhat protectionist in terms of foreign trade.
I am of the Christian faith but do not subscribe to an established denomination. I am strongly averse to religious fundamentalists (from ANY faith, including the Christian one) and those who hold their view of the world and religion as supreme or "the right one." I am for true religious freedom and the ability to worship as one pleases without interference from government, and I believe that an institution that is secular on its face (such as a school) should remain that way; respect an individual's religious preference without undue proselytizing or intrusion on another's beliefs.
