I have lived in Laos since 2006 (and frequently visited for 3 years before that) where I do education and literacy work with Big Brother Mouse and, more recently, at our new school, Big Sister Mouse. Though I don't speak it fluently, I'm reasonably conversant with the Lao language; I've studied it, and check our English-to-Lao translations for accuracy. So my contributions to Wikipedia will generally be in these areas.

On this page I'd like to express my appreciation and admiration for everyone who has made Wikipedia what it is, particularly those who helped to create it in the early days when I was one of those who was dubious that an encyclopedia where anyone could contribute, could possibly work out well. And in fact, that premise has needed some modification, but a dedicated group of people have figured out how to keep the original spirit, while tweaking and improving to make it work.
