Bill Dawes is an American comedian, actor, and writer living in New York City.
Biography
[edit]Bill Dawes is an actor, writer, and stand-up comedian born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. He graduated from T.C. Williams High School (prominently featured in Remember the Titans). He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and earned his Masters of Fine Arts from New York University. He supported himself during that period by working as a professional breakdancer and nude model.
Dawes’ began his professional acting career on the stage, in the Broadway production of “Sex and Longing” starring Sigourney Weaver. He followed that role with a year-long stint as Lord Alfred in Gross Indecency: The Trials of Oscar Wilde. After leaving his role on the stage as Lord Alfred, Dawes began his career in film and television. On the big screen, Dawes has co-starred in a number of short films and independent pictures including “Born Loser”, “Evenhand”, and “The Science of Love.”
On the small screen, Dawes has enjoyed success in guest roles and recurring characters on shows like Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Oz, All My Children, and One Life to Live. Beginning January 2009, he will play Kevin Walker, a recurring role, in Season 2 of F/X Network's "Damages".
Dawes lives in New York City and performs regularly at the Times Square Comedy Club--the former Laugh Factory--as well as the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles. In the Fall and Winter of 2006, Dawes joined Jamie Kennedy and Stu Stone on a cross-country stand-up comedy tour as their opening act. This included opening for Kennedy and Bob Saget when they performed together at the HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas. In early 2007, Dawes joined Kennedy, Stone, and Houston rapper Paul Wall on a multi-stop USO tour through Kuwait and Iraq. During the summer of 2007, Dawes co-starred in the off-Broadway play, "My First Time", based on reader-submitted stories of first sexual experiences on myfirsttime.com.[1]
Along with doing stand-up comedy and acting on the stage and screen, Dawes writes about those experiences on his website, under Tucker Max's Rudius Media umbrella. He also holds a blue belt in Renzo Gracie jiu jitsu.
