Dhanpat Rai was a notable figure of Kasur district (now in Pakistan). He was a prominent brick kiln owner and a distinguished business personality of Lahore and Kasur before partition. He along with his brothers built a strong brick kiln factory which became a major source of bricks throughout the district. However, after partition, his family shifted their base to India, leaving behind a strong business empire which valued very high during that period. Starting from the scratch, his grandson Braham Prakash Sharma started the brick kiln business again in India, and within a short span of time, again became a distinguished name in the brick business.
A road near the railway station in Kasur, where Dhanpat Rai and his family used to live was named after him to mark his contribution to Kasur city.
