Annemieke Akkermans

Annemieke Akkermans (Wapperom) studies, writes and speaks about the use of technology in education. Akkermans, born in The Hague in 1967, attended the 1e Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum in The Hague and studied English and Communication Sciences at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. She worked for 10 years as a television producer in Hilversum (K&B Niehe) and London (Weather Channel and Cartoon Network) and studied pedagogy until 1995 at the Inholland University. Akkermans works in Berlin at the international bilingual Nelson Mandela School as an English, Social Sciences and Art teacher and head of the IT / Media department. Akkermans also works at the Persons-lisum/ Medienbildung of the Landesinstitut für Schule und Medien for Berlin / Brandenburg (LISUM), where she presents and provides workshops in the field of Media Literacy (Medienbildung). Akkermans talks about the use of technology in education, for instance for the DISKURS.MEDIEN.BILDUNG (Berlin) congress, the Berlin Codefair and BETT London. Publications about technology in education can be found at Computing at School Berlin and Technology in the Classroom and in interviews, among others Coding Kids. Since 2019, Akkermans has been working on her promotion Digital Storytelling in a Self-Organized Learning Environment at the Humboldt University.
